We have four different levels of competition in Indiana. However, the best place to start for new churches or new quizzers is the HOOSIER LEAGUE!
What is it?
The Hoosier League is one that gives new quizzers the opportunity to gain experience and confidence in learning how to study and answer questions. We have found by the end of the season, quizzers who start in the hoosier league are excited by their success and confident to move on to higher levels. We have also discovered that many high school students have simply filled their schedules to the point where they feel they don't have time to study the Bible. Through the Hoosier League every high school student in your church can be involved in studying and memorizing God's Word and reap a harvest of eternal benefits.
The Hoosier League Sunday School
We encourage churches to adopt the Hoosier League into their Sunday School program. The idea is to go through the books studied in Bible Quiz each Sunday, encourage students to work on memorizing the chapters we quiz on and then join this Bible Study with the Discipleship Award. This makes for a great Bible study for Sunday school and helps to give the students the motivation they need to dig deeper into God's Word.
The Hoosier League has some slightly different rules to enhance a new quizzer's experience. They are:
Questions 1-10 are asked alternatively to only one team at a time. (We encourage our faster quizzers to wait to a count of 2 to allow those with less experience a chance to answer.)
Questions 11-20 have both teams answering. Here is where the faster students shine.
The first 10 questions are already provided to you. They are the middle school study questions from the Study Guide+ CD. The quizzers can study these questions and be ready for them.
Less material is covered. This helps those who have little experience with memorizing and those with busy schedules.
There will be 2 application questions found in questions 11-20. These are also provided ahead of time. These are found on the Study Guide+ CD also.
Each meet will only cover material from the chapter assigned for that meet. There will be no review material from meet to meet. This allows quizzers to jump in at anytime without starting behind everyone else.
